Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a Principal Water/Wastewater Treatment Engineer to lead and execute water and wastewater treatment design and construction engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, manage design teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to client development activities. This position is critical to the success of the Philadelphia office and the broader national team, focusing on innovative solutions to protect natural resources and adapt to climate challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects in planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, solids handling facilities, biogas/RNG facilities, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Develop project scopes and fee estimates in collaboration with Area Leaders and Account Leaders.
- Create construction documents, specifications, and oversee construction administration.
- Conduct client development activities, including proposal preparation, presentations, and capture strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and design/drafting staff while coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Support regional clients by providing innovative and practical solutions tailored to their needs.
- Travel as necessary for client meetings and project site visits.
Primary Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within six months.
- Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and team leadership.
- Technical proficiency in water and wastewater treatment design and construction.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- 15+ years of experience in the water/wastewater field.
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods and collaboration with construction contractors.
- Flexibility to work with project teams locally and across remote offices.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to foster long-term relationships.
- Commitment to mentorship and team development.
