Job Overview/Summary:
The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular conditions. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to venous reflux testing and venous and arterial Doppler studies.
Accurately create vein maps to demonstrate the location and extent of vein disease.
Set up and provide ultrasound guidance for sterile vein closure procedures.
Maintain ultrasound equipment and work areas, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
Ensure all medical record documentation is properly scanned and saved in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and all applicable regulatory standards at all times.
Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with patients, physicians, and staff.
Primary Skills:
Vascular ultrasound imaging and Doppler studies
Venous reflux testing and vein mapping
Ultrasound-guided procedural support
Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology
EMR documentation
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Experience assisting with vein closure procedures
Strong patient communication and customer service skills
Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Time management and organizational skills
Qualifications:
Required: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program
Required: ARDMS or CCI certification
Preferred: RVT, RVS, or RPhS certification
