Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking an experienced UDB DBA for a remote contract position lasting 9 months. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience, including extensive expertise in migration and High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR).
 
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain UDB (DB2) databases to ensure high availability and performance.
Perform database migrations and upgrades as required.
Implement and manage HADR solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
Monitor database performance and tune systems for optimal efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly.
Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and queries.
Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards.
Develop and maintain database documentation, including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and incident reports.
Provide on-call support for database emergencies and scheduled maintenance.
 
Primary Skills:
Over 10 years of experience in database administration, specifically with UDB (DB2).
Proven expertise in database migration projects.
Strong knowledge and experience with High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
 
Secondary Skills:
Experience with other database systems and technologies.
Knowledge of database security best practices.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in managing large and complex databases.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
