Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the acquisition health, configuration, distribution, switching, and quality control monitoring of signals across various formats, including linear television, IP, fiber, and satellite. The role requires ensuring all signals meet strict quality control standards and making necessary adjustments to video, audio, and captions. The Transmission Engineer will act as a technical liaison for troubleshooting signal issues and will be expected to maintain meticulous notes and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Flexibility in scheduling to meet the demands of a fast-paced 24/7 environment is essential.
Signal Management:
Route and monitor multiple audio/visual feeds to and from our facilities.
Ensure all signals meet strict quality control standards, adjusting video, audio, and captions as necessary.
Quickly identify and resolve issues in a live production environment.
Technical Configuration:
Remotely configure hardware as required for live events and linear acquisition and distribution.
Provide professional, courteous, and timely technical support.
Liaison Duties:
Act as a technical liaison to internal and external parties regarding troubleshooting signal issues.
Notify appropriate parties of signal outages and other critical issues.
Keep meticulous notes and documentation regarding signal quality, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years in Broadcast Engineering, Acquisition, Transmission, or a similar work environment.
Working knowledge of SD/HD-SDI, ASI, MPEG, and J2K signal types.
Familiarity with transmission and acquisition equipment and systems.
Understanding of analog and digital audio signals.
Knowledge of networking and TS Over IP principles (e.g., HLS, RTMP, SRT, Multicast, Unicast).
Experience with equipment from manufacturers such as Evertz, TAG VS, Ateme, Sencore.
Ability to understand signal flows and CAD drawings.
Experience in fast-paced environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Google suite.
High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some knowledge of elastic search and real-time analytics/visualizations, such as Splunk.
Strong communication skills via email and chat communication platforms.
College technical degree, technical certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
