Job Title: Staff Nurse – Endoscopy

Job Overview/Summary:

The Staff Nurse – Endoscopy will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care, maintaining clinical standards, and contributing to the effective operation of the endoscopy unit. The role requires independent practice, mentorship of junior staff, and active involvement in continuous service improvement and clinical research.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver care needs and maintain clinical standards under direction.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and update care programs.

  • Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision.

  • Demonstrate procedures and supervise registered and unregistered staff.

  • Be accountable for personal nursing practice.

  • Maintain high standards of patient care as associate/named nurse.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care programs.

  • Stay updated on current developments and research in clinical practice, aligned with JAG standards.

  • Act as a mentor/assessor to students and Health Care Support Workers.

  • Participate and assist in ward/unit-level research.

  • Undertake study to meet PREPP requirements.

  • Act as a role model for junior staff.

  • Collaborate as part of a team, supporting colleagues and other departments.

  • Monitor and audit service quality.

  • Engage service users in development initiatives.

  • Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.

  • Commit to ongoing training, professional development, and staff competency.

Primary Skills:

  • Strong clinical knowledge in endoscopy procedures.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent patient care and assessment skills.

  • Competence in mentoring and supervising junior staff.

  • Knowledge of JAG standards and clinical best practices.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience in clinical research participation.

  • Familiarity with service audits and quality monitoring.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Nursing Degree.

  • Registered Nursing License.
