Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Specialty Practice Pharmacist to coordinate and manage patients’ pharmaceutical needs across various care settings. This role involves ensuring safe and effective medication use, providing education to healthcare professionals, and mentoring pharmacy students and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and leadership in specialty pharmacy practice.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate all aspects of patients’ pharmaceutical needs in collaboration with physicians and nurses.

Approve and distribute medication orders ensuring proper dose, route, frequency, and duration.

Review patient medication profiles for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, allergies, and appropriate regimens.

Ensure medication dosing is tailored to the patient’s age and disease process.

Provide educational programs for hospital staff (physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff) on safe medication use.

Supervise Pharm.D. students, technicians, and undergraduate/graduate student teaching.

Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement, and medication safety initiatives.

Maintain compliance with regulatory and institutional policies for specialty pharmacy practice.
Primary Skills:

Expertise in specialty pharmacy practice and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.

Strong ability to identify and resolve complex medication-related issues.

Effective teaching and mentorship skills for pharmacy students and healthcare staff.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience with electronic medical record systems.

Familiarity with specialty medication procurement and reimbursement processes.

Strong presentation and communication skills.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy preferred).

Registered Pharmacist license in good standing.

Completion of PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residencies preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to adult, adolescent, geriatric, and neonatal patients (depending on practice location).
