Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior WordPress Engineer to join our team, with a focus on large-scale media websites. This role requires a deep understanding of high-traffic websites and the ability to handle production-grade services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with WordPress development, custom plugin creation, and performance optimization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Design, Code, and Test Inspections: Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the product lifecycle to provide technical expertise and identify issues.
Project Management: Provide work breakdowns, estimates, and status updates to project and engagement management.
Technical Priorities: Understand technical project priorities, implementation dependencies, risks, and issues.
Lead EPICs: Lead EPICs in our agile development process, requiring coordination, direction, and mentorship of multiple development resources.
Scrum Leadership: Lead development scrum groups, taking responsibility for the outcome of multiple stories across several developers.
Story Planning: Engage in story planning, negotiating between PM, DEV, and QA to derive appropriate stories based on fair compromises between original specifications, technical design, and testing possibilities.
Plugin Development: Develop, enhance, document, and maintain WordPress plugins.
Architecture and Design: Lead development team in architecture and design of new features.
 
Required Skills:
WordPress Development: Proficient in WordPress, including Gutenberg and WordPress plugins.
Programming Languages: Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, React, Node.js, CSS, HTML.
Cloud Services: Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Containerization: Proficient with Docker.
Database Management: Experience with MySQL.
CI/CD: Familiar with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes.
Unit Testing: Effective knowledge of unit testing automation.

Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience working on large media websites with millions of visitors per month.

Development: Experience in custom plugin development and React + Gutenberg dynamic block creation.
Testing: Familiarity with unit testing automation and best practices.
