Job Overview/Summary:
As a Senior IoT Systems Engineer at Hitachi Digital Services, you will design and implement backend solutions for advanced Industrial IoT systems. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable systems that leverage cloud platforms like AWS and Edge platforms like Kubernetes. You will be responsible for MQTT brokering, historian management, and data aggregation, developing APIs to facilitate data connectivity across the enterprise. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects, including Data Broker configuration, Timeseries Historian management, and Operations Hub development.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement backend solutions using Rust for MQTT brokering, historian management, and data operations
- Develop rules, schemas, and APIs for aggregating data, calculating KPIs, and publishing MQTT payloads
- Create robust and scalable APIs for seamless data management across platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers and business analysts, to ensure project success
- Manage and optimize data aggregation processes, ensuring efficient reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Lead the deployment and management of IoT systems within complex industrial environments
Primary Skills:
- Proficiency in Rust and experience with system-level programming
- Understanding of the MQTT protocol or brokering solutions
- Experience with historian systems or general data storage solutions
- API development and integration skills
- Familiarity with data aggregation and schema creation
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, including publish/subscribe brokers and the MQTT protocol
- Familiarity with High-Speed Time Series Historians like MongoDB, TimescaleDB, or InfluxDB
- Proficiency in using Azure DevOps for project planning
- Knowledge of AWS cloud platform tools like Greengrass and IoT Core
- Understanding of message standards like JSON and Industry 4.0 standards like Sparkplug B
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (equivalent work experience will also be considered)
- 3-5+ years of experience in backend development, particularly in Rust or C programming languages
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate with diverse teams
