Job Overview/Summary:
Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Services Medical Director and Department Director, the Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is responsible for providing Respiratory Care Services in accordance with physician orders, department policies, and procedures. The role involves administering treatments, operating and maintaining respiratory equipment, and ensuring patient care quality and safety across all age groups.
Responsibilities:

Administer various respiratory therapy treatments and monitor for side effects.

Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators, perform airway management, and tracheal suctioning.

Obtain arterial blood gas samples and interpret results.

Maintain accurate documentation and usage of departmental forms and systems.

Perform EKGs and manage results per hospital protocol.

Educate patients and families, creating and evaluating teaching plans.

Respect and support patients and families while ensuring care aligns with hospital policy.

Participate in staff meetings, QI activities, and professional development.

Fulfill on-call and weekend responsibilities.

Emergency intubation (all ages)

Qualifications:

Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy school

NBRC Certified Respiratory Technician or Registered Therapist

Current State of Ohio Respiratory Therapist License

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

BLS certification
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cardiopulmonary services preferred
