Job Title: Registered Nurse – Multiple Sclerosis Specialist

Job Overview/Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Multiple Sclerosis provides comprehensive nursing care to patients living with MS and related neurological disorders. The RN works collaboratively with neurologists, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to manage symptoms, coordinate care, provide education, and support patients through all stages of the disease.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Care & Monitoring:

  • Perform thorough assessments of MS patients, including neurological exams and evaluation of symptoms.

  • Monitor patients for disease progression and treatment response.

  • Administer disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) and other medications, including infusions and injections.

  • Assist with managing relapses, including coordinating corticosteroid therapy or hospitalization if needed.

Care Coordination:

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physical therapy, occupational therapy, mental health services, and social work.

  • Facilitate referrals to specialists as needed (e.g., urology, pain management, ophthalmology).

Patient Education:

  • Educate patients and families on MS, medications, symptom management, lifestyle changes, and available resources.

  • Support patients in navigating insurance, medication access, and community support programs.

Primary Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

  • Expertise in neurology or chronic disease management

  • Proficient in medication administration and infusion therapy

  • Compassionate communication and patient advocacy

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs)

  • Familiarity with MS-specific medications and therapies

  • Prior experience in neurology or autoimmune specialty care

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of practice

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; MS or neurology experience preferred

  • BLS certification required; additional specialty certifications a plus
