Job Overview/Summary:
The Patient Access Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to the Patient Access team, supporting day-to-day operations, mentoring, and resolving escalated issues. This role ensures efficient registration processes across various hospital areas, contributes to departmental planning, and promotes outstanding customer service while aligning with hospital and corporate policies.
Responsibilities:

Provide support, mentoring, and training to new and existing Patient Access staff

Assist in managing escalated registration or patient service issues

Support long- and short-term planning for Admitting, Scheduling, Emergency Department, and offsite clinics

Ensure excellent customer service and assist staff in resolving concerns

Enforce and assist in developing departmental policies and procedures

Monitor daily activity, prepare performance metrics and reports

Perform special projects and reporting as assigned

Execute all Patient Access functions when necessary

Collaborate with management to meet operational goals
Primary Skills:

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
-
Excellent organizational and communication abilities (oral and written)

In-depth knowledge of healthcare computer systems

Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and related regulations
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience with financial clearance and reporting metrics

Ability to perform under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or related field preferred

4+ years experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area

5+ years experience in Patient Access preferred

2+ years in a supervisory or lead role preferred
