Job Overview/Summary:
The Operating Room (OR) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) functions as a vital part of the surgical care team. This role involves preparing the surgical environment, assisting in patient care and positioning, and ensuring smooth transport of patients of all ages—from infants to adults. The OR CNA supports interdisciplinary teams by running essential errands, maintaining operating room cleanliness, and contributing to efficient surgical operations, all under the direction of nurses and surgeons.
Responsibilities:

Prepare and organize operating rooms according to established protocols

Safely transport patients of all ages within the facility

Assist with patient preparation and positioning before surgery

Run errands between interdisciplinary departments as needed

Support surgical staff with non-clinical responsibilities

Ensure equipment and supplies are in place for procedures

Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in surgical areas
Primary Skills:
-
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
-
Listed in good standing with the State Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from AHA or American Red Cross (required upon hire)

Ability to transport, position, and support patients safely
-
Physical ability to pass a basic FIT test and lift up to 30 pounds
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Previous experience in hospital or healthcare settings

Exposure to or experience in an operating room environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Problem-solving and multitasking capabilities
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Current CNA certification in good standing

BLS Certification (required)

Must be physically able to stand, bend, stoop, and lift regularly
