Middleware Engineer (Remote)

Job Overview/Summary:
The Middleware Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and troubleshooting middleware components and infrastructure in a production environment. The position will also include administrative tasks, environment support, and on-call production incident troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in JBoss and be able to support the system through patching, environment troubleshooting, and after-buildout administrative activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Build out new infrastructure, specifically middleware components
  • Perform administrative tasks following infrastructure buildouts
  • Support and troubleshoot middleware environments, with a focus on JBoss
  • Patch middleware systems and ensure all environments are running smoothly
  • Provide environment support, troubleshoot issues, and resolve system errors
  • Be on-call for production support, 3-4 hours at a time, to handle any incidents
  • Manage and resolve production incidents to ensure minimal downtime

Primary Skills:

  • Strong experience with JBoss middleware
  • Proven expertise in building and supporting middleware infrastructure
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving system and environment issues
  • Familiarity with patch management and environment support processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle on-call production support

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience in other middleware platforms or tools
  • Familiarity with large-scale enterprise environments
  • Basic knowledge of scripting and automation for middleware maintenance
  • Exposure to cloud-based or hybrid environments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Middleware Engineer
  • Hands-on experience with JBoss and middleware buildouts
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support experience
  • Ability to manage on-call support and resolve incidents quickly
