Job Title: Medical Records Specialist

Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to manage, organize, and process medical records in compliance with regulatory and legal standards. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in medical documentation, and a working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and organize medical records in compliance with regulations

  • Audit charts for completeness and accuracy using medical records checklist

  • Handle medical record storage, retention, and retrieval

  • Respond to medical record requests and maintain tracking logs

  • File and manage documentation systematically

  • Complete operative reports and support chart completion

  • Perform other administrative duties as needed

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and medical billing applications

  • Experience in handling medical record systems

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center, or related field

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
