Job Overview/Summary:
Pulivarthi Group is seeking a Media Performance Engineer II to contribute to the optimization of live video streaming systems and content delivery networks (CDNs). This role requires hands-on expertise in live and VOD streaming technology, with a focus on performance, reliability, and end-user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and enhance live video streaming systems, including encoding, distribution, and playback.
  • Optimize the delivery life cycle of live and VOD content, ensuring seamless "glass-to-glass" performance.
  • Operate in a high-availability, large-scale production environment using AWS or other public cloud platforms.
  • Leverage network-level tools like ThousandEyes, Kentik, and Catchpoint to monitor and analyze system performance.
  • Utilize data visualization tools such as Grafana, Datadog, Kibana, and Splunk for performance tracking.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving performance issues to improve end-user streaming experiences.
  • Interface with OTT and mobile devices, including Roku, game consoles, Apple TV, Android, and iOS.
  • Design and maintain detailed documentation for processes, workflows, and tools.
  • Collaborate with third-party services, device manufacturers, and internal teams to address technical challenges.
  • Utilize ticketing and tracking systems like JIRA and Confluence for project management and task tracking.
  • Conduct independent research and analysis of subscriber data, trends, and performance metrics.

Primary Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in streaming media, content distribution, or video technology.
  • Expertise in live video streaming systems, including encoding, distribution, and playback.
  • Solid understanding of the live and VOD content delivery life cycle.
  • Experience with high-availability production environments on public cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with CDNs and their relationship to network operations, transit, and peering.
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms for network monitoring and data visualization.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and data structures.
  • Familiarity with video streaming quality metrics and their impact on viewer experience.
  • Exposure to technical project management principles.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
