Job Title: Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer

Job Overview/Summary:

A Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer is responsible for using ultrasound equipment to create quality images for obstetrical and gynecologic physicians to interpret during exams. They perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging and procedures under the direction of the MFM program providers and physician director of ultrasound. They also inspect and review patient charts, reports, lab results, and medical history, and create reports to assist the physician with documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging and ultrasound procedures for maternal fetal medicine cases.

  • Collaborate closely with MFM providers and the physician director for accurate assessments.

  • Review and analyze patient histories, lab results, and medical reports.

  • Generate detailed imaging reports to support physician documentation and decision-making.

  • Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment according to best practices and safety protocols.

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency in Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography.

  • ARDMS certification in abdominal ultrasound.

  • Strong understanding of diagnostic imaging procedures.

  • High attention to detail in patient data and image quality.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • ARDMS certification in Fetal Echocardiography and Uterine Artery Doppler Studies.

  • State sonographer licensure (if applicable).

  • Office support and training available to assist in obtaining certifications if not already held.

Qualifications:

  • Formal education, training, and experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography.

  • Commitment to obtain Obstetrics certification within six months of hire if not already certified.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.

  • Proficiency in medical documentation and reporting software.

  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis capabilities.
