Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technologist to join our healthcare team. This position involves performing a wide range of laboratory tests with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring compliance with clinical standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical technology, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:

Perform laboratory testing, including high-complexity testing, in compliance with CLIA and institutional standards.

Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable reporting of laboratory results.

Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.

Adhere strictly to laboratory fraud and abuse policies, quality control, and safety protocols.

Demonstrate department-specific competencies and core laboratory skills as outlined in the assessment tools.

Safely handle and dispose of biological and hazardous materials in accordance with laboratory procedures.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Maintain detailed records and participate in ongoing continuing education requirements.
Primary Skills:

Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and clinical laboratory operations.

Proficiency in handling laboratory instruments and performing quality control.

Ability to distinguish colors accurately (essential for testing procedures).

Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.

Commitment to safety, compliance, and confidentiality.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Familiarity with laboratory fraud and abuse policies and regulatory requirements.

Experience working in a hospital or high-volume clinical lab environment.

Good communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with healthcare teams.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited medical technology program or meets FDA qualifications for CLIA standards for all laboratory and high-complexity testing.

MT/MLS ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification (or equivalent) required within 18 months of hire or transfer. Certification must be maintained if not grandfathered from the Board of Registry (BOR).

Participation in a minimum of 12 CEUs annually to maintain certification.
Work Environment:

Must be able to distinguish colors.

Potential exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and injury risk.

Requires standing, bending, and manual manipulation for extended periods, with occasional light lifting up to 20 lbs.

Will work with all patient populations except newborns.
