Job Overview/Summary:

The Lab Assistant plays a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by handling specimen processing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate data entry. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical or laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:

Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens

Prepare specimens for testing and analysis

Perform scanning and data entry of specimen and patient information

Ensure all laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance

Troubleshoot specimen-related issues

Replenish test bench supplies as needed

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Complete record logs and other administrative duties as required

Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safety and quality standards

Primary Skills:

Specimen handling and processing

Data entry and documentation accuracy

Attention to detail

Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols

Basic equipment maintenance

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience in clinical or diagnostic laboratory settings

Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

1+ year of medical, laboratory, or production experience preferred
