Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Surgical Coordinator to join a prestigious medical practice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in surgical scheduling and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care. You will be the linchpin in managing all aspects of the surgical process, ensuring efficiency and a smooth patient journey from consultation to post-op.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling with facilities, anesthesiologists, and vendors
Communicate directly with patients to guide them through their surgical journey
Manage pre-operative documentation, including labs, imaging, referrals, and H&Ps
Perform insurance verifications and support the authorization process
Maintain surgical tracking systems, logs, and detailed EMR documentation
Ensure timely submission of surgical packets to facilities and providers
Confirm surgical bookings and maintain open communication with all parties involved
Collect deposits and support financial counseling regarding elective procedures
Ensure case readiness and flag any issues proactively
Provide exceptional follow-up and assist with post-op coordination
Primary Skills:
Proficient in surgical scheduling and EMR systems
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Experience in orthopedic, podiatric, or plastic surgery coordination
Familiarity with ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) and out-of-network workflows
Exposure to concierge-style medical practices
Clinical background or Medical Assistant certification
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling or coordination
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus
