Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Forensic Specialist – Toxicology to support forensic laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will possess foundational knowledge in toxicology and forensic science, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of evidence handling, laboratory analysis, and regulatory compliance. This role involves performing analyses, maintaining detailed records, and collaborating with law enforcement and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities:

Conduct toxicological analyses on biological and non-biological samples in compliance with laboratory procedures and regulations.

Apply forensic laboratory analysis techniques and equipment to detect and quantify substances.

Maintain, calibrate, and operate laboratory instrumentation with precision.

Record and preserve detailed evidence and laboratory findings in compliance with chain-of-custody and confidentiality requirements.

Explain scientific findings and procedures to non-technical audiences such as law enforcement or court personnel.

Adhere to safety protocols, particularly when handling biohazardous or hazardous materials.

Stay up to date with accreditation requirements, federal and state regulations, and best practices in forensic science.

Collaborate with criminal justice personnel and colleagues to ensure accurate casework and effective communication.
Primary Skills:

Knowledge of toxicology theory and application.

Knowledge of forensic laboratory analysis techniques, procedures, and limitations.

Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and its application to toxicology testing.

Knowledge of criminal law as it relates to evidence handling and reporting.

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-compliance environment.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field).

0–2 years of progressive experience in forensic toxicology or related fields (Forensic Crime Lab or Forensic Evidence Technician roles preferred).
