Job Description:
We are seeking a Remote Field Technician who will be responsible for supporting multiple programs and systems, performing installation and maintenance on various Networking and Telecommunication equipment at customer locations. The role requires daily commuting to and from customer remote locations, with occasional travel to assist with customer needs outside the assigned area.
 
Essential Functions:
Technical Support:
Provide support for programs/systems including FTI, MS, ADSB, DCNS, WMSS, etc.
Install, repair, configure, test, and conduct preventive maintenance on equipment at remote locations.
Read, understand, and follow equipment drawings and task orders.
Work directly with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk over the phone to resolve field issues.
Field Work:
Work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations.
Occasionally travel to remote sites outside the assigned area to assist with FAA customer needs/requests.
Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicle.
Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
Work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) to meet customer needs.
Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
Administrative Tasks:
Possess good admin skills for taking notes and documenting activities at customer locations.
Ensure all company and program-specific policies/procedures are followed.
Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent with a satisfactory driving record.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 0 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of experience including supervisory experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of working experience specific to the telecom field.
5+ years of experience working with fiber, Carrier Ethernet, Multiplexes, DACS, Routers/Switches, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice, and Data applications.
Experience with cable connectors and replacement including RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449, BNC, and 50 pin Amphenol.
Working knowledge of power testing (AC and DC) and configuration/operation of 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies, backup power supplies, and site grounding.
Experience with network equipment, circuit testing, and various test equipment/laptop.
Knowledge of Bell Core Standards for Analog 4wire & 2 wire, Digital DSX1/T1, DSX3/T3, Serial RS232/RS530, Carrier Ethernet RFC, and IP interface testing.
Proficiency with test equipment such as Viavi 5800, JDSU HST3000, DataScout, Ameritech AM5XT, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Anritsu Spectrum Analyzer, and other T1/DS3 test sets.
Experience with performing Preventive and Corrective Maintenance on backup generators.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
 
Additional Skills:
Experience working remotely with Network Operation Control Centers.
Direct customer interfacing/communication experience.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work in high-stress and visibility environments.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Ability to support customer needs after hours (on-call).
