Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CPA Manager to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public accounting tax engagements, CPA or EA designation, and a bachelor's degree in accounting. This role involves managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance and accuracy, and providing strategic recommendations to improve systems and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department including:
Month and end-year processes
Accounts payable/receivable
Cash receipts
General ledger
Payroll and utilities
Treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting
Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
Capital assets reconciliations
Trust account statement reconciliations
Check runs
Fixed asset activity
Debt activity
Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
Coordinate and complete annual audits.
Provide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Meet financial accounting objectives.
Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
Review tax returns, financial statements, tax projections, and related workpapers.
Mentor and train subordinates.
Monitor workload capacity and capabilities of subordinates.
Communicate with clients regarding their tax records and tax returns.
Provide solutions and strategies for client needs and communicate plans of action to subordinates.
Apply tax laws to benefit clients and minimize their tax obligations.
Manage additional accounting projects as dictated by business needs.
 
Primary Skills:
3+ years of experience in public accounting tax engagements.
CPA or EA designation is strongly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
Proficient working knowledge of relevant technical areas relating to income tax, financial statements, sales tax, payroll tax, and software programs.
Ability to obtain and maintain current knowledge of tax law changes in relevant jurisdictions.
Ability to obtain and maintain current knowledge of changes in financial statement regulations.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Ability to manage, monitor, and mentor staff.
Strong professional ethics, integrity, and reliability.
Dedication to providing and ensuring exceptional client services.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with clients and team members.
Willingness to expand skills and adaptability to change.
Proven working experience as an Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to direct and supervise.
BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
