Job Overview/Summary:
The Clinical Pathologist will be responsible for the examination and interpretation of clinical pathology specimens, preparation of accurate and timely pathology reports, and providing expert consultation services to clients. This role supports the hospital’s mission by maintaining high diagnostic standards, fostering client relationships, and contributing to the quality control and professional development programs within the laboratory.
Responsibilities:

Perform gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens.

Prepare accurate pathology reports within established turnaround times.

Provide telephone consultations to clients regarding pathology cases.

Collaborate and consult with other pathologists to ensure diagnostic consistency.

Advise laboratory personnel on proper specimen processing techniques.

Act as the pathologist on duty and promote a collegial team environment.

Participate actively in pathologist meetings and foster strong professional relationships with clients.

Contribute to hospital growth and uphold its professional reputation.

Engage in quality control and continuing education activities.

Allocate time for professional development or approved projects that enhance hospital operations.
Primary Skills:

Expertise in clinical pathology, including specimen examination and report preparation.

Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Proficiency in computer and dictation systems.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory setting.

Qualifications:

Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Willingness to work on-site at the Wetherby Lab at least one day per week.
