Job Overview/Summary:

The Clinical Manager – Med Surg will oversee daily operations of the medical-surgical unit, ensuring exceptional patient care, optimal resource utilization, and high staff engagement. This role requires strong clinical expertise, proven leadership skills, and the ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the medical-surgical nursing team.

  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure quality patient outcomes.

  • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency.

  • Mentor and coach staff for professional growth and performance excellence.

  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Act as liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and hospital leadership.

  • Lead meetings, set priorities, and manage project deadlines effectively.

  • Address operational challenges and resolve conflicts proactively.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with physicians and medical leadership.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience with hospital accreditation and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with healthcare data analytics and reporting.

  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinical role within medical/surgical services.

  • At least 2 years of progressive management experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Current RN license in applicable state.
