Job Overview/Summary:
The Clinical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to Providers to collaboratively ensure the delivery of high-quality and compassionate care to patients. This position plays a critical role in patient engagement, clinical preparation, documentation, and procedural assistance.
Responsibilities:
Greet and room patients
Obtain and document past medical/surgical histories, chief complaint, HPI, and vital signs
Reconcile and document medications and allergies in the EHR
Assist the Provider with exams, treatments, and procedures
Prepare/administer medications per Provider direction
Collect/prepare lab specimens
Act as scribe when needed
Provide patient education and treatment instructions
Respond to patient questions and refill requests (phone/EHR)
Manage Provider schedules and book appointments/procedures
Schedule surgeries
Maintain EHR workqueues
Index labs, notes, and external documentation into EHR
Perform room turnover and sterilization
Train and onboard new staff
Adhere to OSHA standards and maintain safe environment
Maintain clinical and office supplies
Fulfill physical and mental demands of the role
Ensure on-site presence and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
Primary Skills:
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
Clinical and administrative healthcare knowledge
Patient interaction and communication
Medication preparation and administration
Multitasking in a clinical environment
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Scribing experience
Prior surgical scheduling experience
Experience with OSHA compliance and clinic protocols
Document indexing and medical records management
Qualifications:
Ability to maintain high accuracy in assessments and decisions under stress
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies
Strong adaptability to departmental changes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
