Job Title: Care/Medication Technician

Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care/Medication Technician to join our team. This dual-role position involves providing quality care to residents while also assisting in medication administration under proper guidelines. Your support will promote the dignity, independence, and overall well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:

Care Giver Duties:

  • Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift, ensuring regular checks.

  • Observes, reports, and documents changes in residents’ conditions (e.g., skin, behavior, appetite).

  • Responds promptly to security systems and resident call bells.

  • Notifies supervisor/HCC of increased care needs.

  • Assists with continence management and sanitation.

  • Serves, collects trays, and reports refusal of meals or appetite loss.

  • Maintains resident room and work area cleanliness.

  • Practices hygiene and infection control precautions.

  • Supports resident independence and safety.

  • Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, eating).

  • Engages residents in enrichment activities and life skills.

  • Assists residents and families; performs laundry duties as needed.

Medication Tech Duties:

  • Reviews service plans for resident care details.

  • Assists with medication administration using proper protocols.

  • Documents all medications given or missed accurately.

  • Maintains confidentiality of resident information.

  • Reports concerns or reactions to the nurse or HCC.

  • Restocks and checks medication carts; counts narcotics per shift.

  • Maintains clean and organized medication areas.

  • Follows medication refill processes and updates service plans monthly.

  • Takes vital signs (temperature, BP, weight, pulse, respiration).

  • Reports exposure incidents immediately.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Primary Skills:

  • Resident care and assistance with activities of daily living

  • Safe medication administration

  • Accurate documentation and reporting

  • Infection control and hygiene practices

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience engaging seniors in activities

  • Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living

  • Familiarity with medical charting systems

Qualifications:

  • Certified Nurse’s Aid (CNA) certification preferred

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • CPR Certification preferred

  • First Aid Certification preferred

  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred
