Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to serve as the Digital Systems V&V Technical Lead for Generation IV advanced nuclear reactor technologies. This role is responsible for the technical performance of V&V programs, working closely with scientists and engineers to review, audit, test, verify, and validate digital Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, hardware, software, and firmware. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in nuclear industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Define, coordinate, and execute V&V technical scopes throughout project completion.
- Manage project technical performance, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Assist in hiring and staffing the right mix of skillsets, experience, and knowledge.
- Conduct training needs assessments aligned with industry standards.
- Support project goals by leveraging internal and external resources.
- Develop Digital I&C V&V Plans, Procedures, and Policies in accordance with NRC Regulatory Guides and industry standards.
- Perform technically independent reviews and verifications of system, software, and hardware requirements.
- Participate in Configuration Management (CM) audits and software safety analyses.
- Generate V&V reports and CM reports as per project lifecycle requirements.
- Audit, inspect, and review supplier deliverables.
- Assess and participate in code and high-level software/firmware language reviews.
- Plan, execute, and document system, software, and hardware testing across the digital lifecycle.
- Maintain compliance with nuclear industry best practices, proactively identifying process improvements.
- Collaborate with licensing teams on Safety Analysis Reports.
- Support equipment qualification, commissioning, and startup testing teams to ensure compliance with I&C requirements.
Primary Skills:
- Strong expertise in instrumentation and controls (I&C) development, diagnostics, auditing, and verification.
- Experience in developing highly reliable software/firmware for mission-critical applications.
- Hands-on experience in I&C system, software, and hardware testing.
- Knowledge of nuclear reactor safety systems and nuclear instrumentation systems.
- Proficiency in nuclear power plant quality assurance standards such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- Familiarity with regulatory guides and IEEE standards, including RG 1.28, RG 1.168 – 1.173, IEEE 7-4.3.2, IEEE 1012, IEEE 1028, IEEE 828, IEEE 829, IEEE 1008, IEEE 1074.
- Experience with design control and compliance in nuclear power plant environments.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of direct experience performing NQA-1 Design Verification activities.
- 5+ years of experience in a management role overseeing V&V processes.
