Job Overview/Summary
The Therapist, Emergency Services is responsible for providing immediate mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and stabilization services to individuals experiencing psychiatric emergencies. This role involves close coordination with hospitals, law enforcement, courts, and community agencies to ensure timely and appropriate care.
Responsibilities

Complete pre-screenings, risk assessments, and evaluations for hospitalization commitments, emergency custody orders, temporary detention orders, and treatment needs.

Coordinate actions with law enforcement, judicial authorities, and medical treatment providers.

Arrange voluntary and involuntary hospital admissions and follow up with hospital staff.

Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services to program referrals.

Coordinate alcohol and drug treatment placements.

Deliver direct services including emergency intakes, individual evaluations, and individual and family therapy.

Classify and refer individuals to appropriate agency treatment units.

Coordinate services and liaise with hospitals, courts, social services, state offices, and community partners.

Respond to program callers and manage phone inquiries.

Prepare documentation and enter psychological and service data into electronic records systems.

Provide expert testimony in court and legal proceedings as required.
