Job Overview/Summary: We are looking for a skilled Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and maintain robust applications while ensuring the highest performance and reliability standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Ruby programming, the Rails framework, and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, and modern development tools. This role also involves mentoring junior developers, improving application performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code. Integrate data storage solutions and user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic. Identify bottlenecks and bugs, devising solutions to mitigate and resolve them. Coordinate with product owners, testing teams, and management to break down requirements and create feature development plans. Maintain code quality, organization, and automation. Participate in Agile software development processes to achieve team and individual goals. Mentor junior team members and, if needed, lead daily status calls with the team. Continuously improve processes and workflows by analyzing activities and identifying opportunities for enhancement. Communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders through verbal and written channels.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in Information Technology. 5+ years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails application development. Expertise in Ruby programming and in-depth knowledge of the Rails framework. Experience in PostgreSQL (or any RDBMS) and writing efficient SQL queries. Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, Microservices, and MVC architecture. Proficiency in any JS-based frontend framework (e.g., ReactJS, Angular). Experience writing unit tests using Rspec. Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with development tools such as GitHub/BitBucket, Jenkins, CI/CD, and cloud services (Azure, AWS). Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the medical device or healthcare domain. Proficiency in code versioning tools like GitHub or BitBucket. Knowledge of project management tools such as JIRA. Ability to multitask and handle several concurrent testing activities. Leadership skills with experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
