Job Title: Reactor Engineer

Job Overview/Summary: We are seeking a skilled Reactor Engineer to oversee and enhance the operation of nuclear reactor cores and associated fuel management. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal core performance, conduct physics tests, monitor fuel performance, and maintain accountability of special nuclear materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor reactor core operations and perform applicable tests and surveillances to ensure optimal performance.

  • Provide technical advice to the Operations crew when assigned to the Control Room.

  • Develop reactivity plans for power maneuvers and support/conduct start-up physics testing.

  • Perform new fuel receipt inspections and track special nuclear materials.

  • Analyze and plan fuel movements to support refueling and dry fuel storage.

  • Prepare and review procedures associated with reactor core operation and nuclear fuel management.

  • Identify, investigate, and correct problems within the Corrective Action Program.

  • Interface with and coordinate activities performed by outside engineering and consulting service companies.

  • Collaborate with customers to identify needs and provide engineering solutions to facilitate operational effectiveness.

  • Support fleet initiatives and all reactor sites as assigned by management.

  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Perform Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.

Primary Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution preferred).

  • At least 3 years of engineering experience (nuclear experience preferred).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.

  • Proven ability to complete work assignments with integrity and adherence to high professional standards.

  • Demonstrated dependable, steadfast working behaviors while completing quality, accurate work within established deadlines.

  • Ability to work odd and extended hours based on plant needs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Must reside or relocate within site-specific ERO response time.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Software/programming experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution preferred).

  • At least 3 years of engineering experience (nuclear experience preferred).

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
