Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to support surgical teams by maintaining a safe, sterile, and efficient operating room environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, AORN standards, and the ability to anticipate surgical team needs to ensure smooth and timely procedures.

Responsibilities:

Perform scrub person functions using working knowledge of aseptic technique and AORN Standards.

Check all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates.

Maintain sterile integrity of all items and fluids introduced onto the field.

Monitor sterile field for events that may contaminate the field and initiate corrective action.

Move within and around the sterile field in a manner that preserves sterility.

Visually inspect equipment for frayed cords, damaged plugs, or defects prior to use.

Confirm equipment self-test patterns before operation.

Anticipate equipment and supply needs to prevent procedural delays.

Understand the order of use for surgical materials and supplies.

Report changes in room temperature to the appropriate personnel.

Remain perceptive to the patient’s sensory environment.

Monitor, evaluate, and revise preference cards.

Contribute to individualized and ongoing patient care within scope of practice.

Maintain flexibility and respond appropriately to changing priorities and plans.

Support decisions and actions of the Manager or Charge Nurse; demonstrate respect for others.

Participate in departmental Quality Improvement (QI) programs, including confidential occurrence reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Primary Skills:

Aseptic technique and sterile field maintenance

Knowledge of AORN Standards

Surgical instrumentation and equipment handling

Anticipation and procedural flow support

Attention to detail and safety compliance

Qualifications:

Preferred: One (1) year of Operating Room experience as an OR Technician in a hospital setting

Licensed in the state as a Surgical Technician (Required)
