Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) specializing in Mass Spectrometry to perform complex laboratory testing and analysis in a clinical laboratory environment. The MLS will support accurate diagnosis and treatment by performing high-quality laboratory procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory testing using mass spectrometry and other advanced laboratory technologies.

  • Conduct testing procedures classified under CLIA as waived, moderate, or high complexity according to certification level.

  • Ensure accurate analysis, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory test results.

  • Maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot equipment issues when necessary.

  • Follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital, laboratory, and federal/state regulations.

  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to support patient care.

  • Participate in laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Primary Skills:

  • Mass spectrometry laboratory testing

  • Clinical laboratory analysis

  • Quality control and quality assurance

  • Laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting

  • Data interpretation and reporting

  • Regulatory compliance (CLIA standards)

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Pediatric laboratory testing experience

  • Laboratory Information System (LIS) experience

  • Clinical chemistry testing expertise

  • Experience in high-complexity laboratory environments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science

  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Science program

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience performing clinical laboratory testing (clinical rotations may apply toward this requirement)

  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent nationally recognized certifying agency, or registry eligible

  • Registry-eligible candidates must pass the certifying exam within one year of graduation

  • Registry-eligible candidates without certification may perform waived or moderate complexity testing only until certified
