Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Director who will serve as both a clinical leader and mentor, actively managing and guiding hospital staff while providing top-tier veterinary care. The role involves a mix of time seeing patients and managing the hospital team, making this ideal for someone who is passionate about veterinary medicine and leadership. Responsibilities:

Provide medical leadership and mentor hospital doctors and staff

Maintain high medical standards and ensure best practices

Treat small animal patients, including preventive care, diagnostics, and surgery

Ensure quality assurance, compliance, and efficient hospital operations

Act as a liaison with the wider VCA leadership team and external partners
Primary Skills:
-
Strong background in veterinary medicine with active clinical experience

Proven leadership in a medical or hospital setting

Excellent communication and mentorship skills

Solid understanding of small animal practice operations
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience with digital radiography and surgical procedures

Prior experience managing a veterinary team or clinic

Familiarity with practice financials or operational KPIs
Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree

Licensed or eligibility for licensure in the practicing state

3+ years of clinical experience, preferably with leadership responsibilities

Strong interest in mentorship and practice development
