Job Overview/Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral part of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team working under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Work situations require performance of safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C. The MA-C has continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and their families/caregivers.
Responsibilities:

Organize patient flow in collaboration with the front office staff

Interview patients and obtain vital signs

Assist patients in preparing for exams or treatments

Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture

Administer medications per Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency

Relay instructions/information to patients and their families/caregivers

Send and receive patient medical records

Facilitate patient referrals

Prepare forms for patients
Primary Skills:
-
Patient interaction and clinical procedure skills
-
Proficiency in taking vital signs and assisting in patient exams

Venipuncture and specimen collection

Medication administration
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Experience with electronic health records (EHR)

Knowledge of medical terminology specific to neuroscience

Bilingual or multilingual capabilities
Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistants

Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
