Job Overview/Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral part of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team working under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Work situations require performance of safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C. The MA-C has continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize patient flow in collaboration with the front office staff

  • Interview patients and obtain vital signs

  • Assist patients in preparing for exams or treatments

  • Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture

  • Administer medications per Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency

  • Relay instructions/information to patients and their families/caregivers

  • Send and receive patient medical records

  • Facilitate patient referrals

  • Prepare forms for patients

Primary Skills:

  • Patient interaction and clinical procedure skills

  • Proficiency in taking vital signs and assisting in patient exams

  • Venipuncture and specimen collection

  • Medication administration

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology specific to neuroscience

  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistants

  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
