Job Overview/Summary: We are seeking a Lead Android Engineer to develop innovative and high-quality Android applications. This role involves designing and implementing client-side solutions while collaborating with UX/UI, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver seamless customer experiences. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Kotlin and Android development, with a passion for mentoring and leading technical initiatives.
Responsibilities: Develop Android client code solutions that align with product strategy and engineering best practices. Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI Designers, Quality Engineers, and Product Owners to deliver high-performing, intuitive customer experiences. Actively participate in agile ceremonies and ensure team commitments are met on time and with high quality. Advocate for Android best practices and contribute to developer communities. Continuously stay updated with the latest Android technologies, including Kotlin, Swift, and third-party libraries. Provide mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their professional growth. Collaborate across engineering teams (Android, iOS, APIs, Web) to align on development strategies. Own and lead delivery of major platform components, working closely with senior engineers and architects. Identify and mitigate technical challenges early while finding innovative solutions. Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to Kotlin best practices and design principles. Champion engineering best practices and contribute to improving development processes.
Primary Skills: 4+ years of professional software engineering experience (excluding internships). 3+ years of Android application development experience. 3+ years of experience working with Kotlin. Strong understanding of Android architecture components and best practices. Experience with RESTful APIs, Jetpack Components, and modern UI frameworks. Ability to lead and influence engineering decisions within a team.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have): Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. 5+ years of experience building Android applications. 4+ years of experience with Kotlin. Experience with open-source frameworks and contributing to open-source projects. 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and automation in Android development.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
