Job Title: IT Generalist

Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking an IT Generalist to provide comprehensive technical support for computers, networks, and associated hardware and software. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining IT infrastructure, assisting users with technical issues, and managing network connectivity. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, customer service abilities, and the capability to support both hardware and software solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for computers, networks, and peripheral devices.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair personal computers, network equipment (servers, modems, multiplexers), telephones, cables, and connectors.
  • Support hardware and software installations and maintenance.
  • Connect personal computers and terminals to existing data networks.
  • Maintain network diagrams, circuit records, and troubleshooting logs.
  • Instruct users on computer and network usage.
  • Investigate user needs and recommend hardware/software purchases.
  • Perform basic PC, PBX, and network software programming.
  • Collaborate with staff, users, and management to establish IT requirements.
  • Resolve technical issues for clients in person, via phone, or remotely.
  • Document communication transactions, problems, remedial actions, and installation activities.
  • Develop training materials and provide user training on IT systems and software.

Primary Skills:

  • 2-5 years of experience in IT support or a related field.
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and peripheral devices.
  • Ability to install and configure IT equipment and software.
  • Proficiency in maintaining IT documentation and troubleshooting logs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience with PBX systems and network programming.
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices.
  • Ability to develop and deliver IT training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or commensurate experience).
  • Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
