Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking an experienced iSeries Tech Lead to oversee the design, development, and implementation of software systems on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise and leadership skills to drive technology decisions, ensure effective team collaboration, and implement best practices in system development. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can align business needs with technical strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of software systems and applications on the iSeries (AS/400) platform.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams, ensuring best practices in coding, architecture, and system performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate potential new technologies, workflows, and system enhancements.
- Ensure all team members' insights are considered when making critical technology decisions.
- Oversee system integrations, maintenance, and upgrades while ensuring minimal downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to iSeries applications and infrastructure.
- Optimize system performance, security, and scalability based on business needs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
Primary Skills:
- Expertise in IBM iSeries (AS/400) development and administration.
- Strong knowledge of RPG, COBOL, CL, and SQL programming.
- Experience in designing and implementing scalable and secure iSeries solutions.
- Hands-on experience with system integrations and workflow automation.
- Ability to assess and implement new technologies effectively.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and collaboration skills.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience with modernization of legacy iSeries applications.
- Knowledge of cloud-based integrations with iSeries.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies for software development.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an iSeries Tech Lead or similar leadership role.
- Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining iSeries applications.
