Job Overview/Summary:
The Dental Assistant II supports dental providers by delivering high-quality chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinical operations. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Take and record patient vital signs and medical histories.
Prepare patients for dental examinations and procedures.
Ensure exam rooms are stocked and prepared prior to provider arrival.
Take and properly develop dental X-rays (radiographs).
Mix, prepare, and provide materials and instruments as requested by the provider.
Set up instruments and trays prior to patient appointments.
Assist the provider during examinations and dental procedures.
Accurately update and maintain patient dental records in the Electronic Dental Record (EDR) system.
Perform sterilization of instruments and maintain proper tray setup.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and PPE regulations at all times.
Primary Skills:
Chairside dental assisting.
Dental radiography (X-rays).
Infection control and sterilization techniques.
Electronic Dental Record (EDR) documentation.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Patient communication and education.
Time management and multitasking.
Knowledge of dental instruments and materials.
Qualifications:
Dental Assistant II certification or equivalent, as required by state regulations.
Current X-ray certification.
Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and PPE compliance standards.
Prior experience in a dental clinical setting preferred.
