Job Overview/Summary:
The Cisco ISE Engineer will support IT verticals and business units by implementing new applications and making network modifications within the Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) platform. This position requires analysis, design, and implementation of Cisco ISE solutions and is responsible for the overall management and enhancement of Network Access Control (NAC) policies. The engineer will also develop API-based integrations and automate processes using scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and integrate Cisco ISE/NAC with wired, wireless, and VPN infrastructure.
- Create detailed network designs (physical and logical) to meet customer requirements.
- Build and analyze ISE rules to comply with client network security policies.
- Write ISE rule scripts and related change documentation to meet project deadlines.
- Develop and manage API-based integrations with Cisco ISE, leveraging REST APIs.
- Automate network access control processes and security policies using scripts (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
- Establish testing processes for applications and devices before deployment.
- Provide guidance to associates on utilizing the full capabilities of Cisco ISE.
- Plan and lead ISE projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Recommend improvements to network operations and project planning.
- Author and maintain ISE documentation (standards, processes, topology, and security).
- Participate in on-call support rotation for Network Access Control (after hours).
- Implement ISE changes during appropriate change windows (typically after hours).
- Act as the liaison between IT verticals, vendors, and the network team.
- Serve as the escalation point for Cisco ISE integration issues.
- Recommend courses of action to maintain cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.
Primary Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a Cisco ISE Engineer.
- Demonstrated experience with ISE policy management for wired, wireless, and VPN users.
- Proficiency in developing API calls, scripting (Python, JavaScript, etc.), and using RESTful APIs.
- Strong knowledge of network security protocols such as RADIUS, TACACS+, and 802.1x.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience with Meraki wireless infrastructure, cloud controllers, access points, and portals.
- Ability to act as a liaison between technical peers, leadership, and business teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with project planning and network documentation.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems (CIA/MIS), Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to solve complex issues related to Cisco ISE integration and network security.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and prioritize workloads effectively.
