Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist – Clinical Coordinator to plan, direct, and evaluate patient care activities within designated cardiovascular clinical areas. This leadership role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, supporting physicians during invasive procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in patient outcomes and clinical processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and evaluate patient care delivered by staff within the assigned clinical area

  • Communicate patient care issues with cross-departmental leadership and develop action plans for conflict resolution or process improvement

  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in designated labs, including sterile field preparation, inventory management, and medication/contrast media administration

  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff throughout procedures to optimize patient outcomes and procedural efficiency

  • Perform job evaluations for assigned staff within established timelines

  • Attend at least 90% of required staff meetings

  • Assist with policy development and ensure compliance with JCAHO standards

  • Successfully complete 100% of annual hospital and departmental competencies

  • Demonstrate ongoing professional development through in-services, seminars, and self-development activities beyond orientation

Primary Skills:

  • Cardiovascular invasive procedures (Cath Lab / EP Lab)

  • Clinical coordination and team leadership

  • Sterile technique and procedural support

  • Inventory and medication management

  • Patient care planning and evaluation

  • Regulatory and accreditation compliance

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Conflict resolution and process improvement

  • Interdepartmental collaboration

  • Staff training and performance evaluation

  • Quality assurance and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications:

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA (required upon start)

  • One of the following certifications required unless a graduate of nursing:

    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

    • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiologist (RCES)

    • RTR-CV, RTR-VI, or RTR-CI

Licensure:

  • If not certified as above, must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia upon start

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following:

    • Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab

    • Interventional Radiology

    • Critical Care

    • Equivalent experience as an RN in a critical care hospital unit

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing OR

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiologic Technology OR

  • Equivalent education and experience
