Job Overview/Summary:

The Anaesthetic Team Leader will lead a team of skilled staff to deliver high-quality care for patients requiring perioperative intervention. This role supports the theatre manager, oversees anaesthetic services, and ensures the safe and effective use of specialist equipment, including robotic systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of skilled staff to provide planned care for patients requiring perioperative intervention.

  • Support the theatre manager by providing regular updates and reports on your team and speciality.

  • Provide specialist advice and expertise to the team and consultants.

  • Liaise with consultants regarding planning and special requirements for lists.

  • Advise and collaborate with SSD and other key departments on specialist equipment maintenance.

  • Work with the Robotic Clinical Lead to develop a training plan ensuring staff competency in robotic systems.

Primary Skills:

  • RN or ODP qualification.

  • Strong anaesthetics experience.

  • Ability to analyze staff and theatre management challenges and provide effective solutions.

  • Clinical reasoning skills applied to complex and varied patient case mixes.

  • Proven ability to challenge and influence consultants toward evidence-based practice.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Supervisory or leadership experience in perioperative settings.

  • Experience working with robotic surgical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).

  • Extensive perioperative and anaesthetics experience.
