Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled AASHTOWare Project (AWP) Technical Specialist to join our team. This role involves configuring and customizing AASHTOWare Project tools, developing solutions to meet state Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical outcomes. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of AASHTOWare Project tools and processes, technical expertise in web application development, and experience working with DOT customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement AASHTOWare Project (AWP) out-of-the-box tools and processes.
  • Review and translate business user specifications into configurations for AWP to meet desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement solutions using languages such as SQL, C#, .NET, Python, PowerShell, and command-line tools.
  • Follow coding and security best practices in all technical work.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment and independently manage assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate AWP requirements and make recommendations based on technical expertise.
  • Work with state DOT customers to implement tailored solutions.
  • Use the Interactive Data Model tool to develop and analyze solutions based on the AWP data model.
  • Develop and execute best practices for source code maintenance using GIT.
  • Create and demonstrate appropriate testing protocols, including automated testing using test scripts or other tools.

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency with AASHTOWare Project tools and processes.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, C#, .NET, Python, PowerShell, and web application development.
  • Understanding of coding and security best practices.
  • Expertise in source code maintenance with tools such as GIT.
  • Technical knowledge of the AWP data model and associated tools like the Interactive Data Model.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience with state DOT customers and their business processes.
  • Ability to create and implement automated testing tools and scripts.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical processes to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in programming and analysis, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to configure and customize COTS applications to align with business needs.
  • In-depth understanding of technical best practices for application upgrades, coding, and testing.
