Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our Pathology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for screening and reporting GYN and Non-GYN/FNA cytology cases, assisting in specimen collection and adequacy assessments, and supporting cytology preparation processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality diagnostic services within the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen and report GYN and Non-GYN/FNA cytology cases.

  • Assist with cytology specimen collection and adequacy assessments in procedural areas such as Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, and the Operating Room.

  • Perform cyto-preparatory duties as needed.

  • Maintain screening logs and other documentation required by laboratory regulatory bodies.

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency in screening GYN and Non-GYN cytology specimens.

  • Strong attention to detail and diagnostic accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively in procedural and laboratory environments.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Familiarity with laboratory regulatory standards and documentation requirements.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency (e.g., American Society of Clinical Pathologists or International Academy of Cytology eligibility).

  • Current New York State Department of Health registration and successful completion of CMS proficiency testing requirements.

  • Current license from the New York State Department of Education.

  • 1–2 years of experience preferred.
