Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Ward Manager to oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of a busy surgical ward. The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical expertise with leadership capabilities, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and team performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage clinical operations on the ward

  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care

  • Supervise and support nursing and support staff

  • Manage staff rosters and ensure appropriate staffing levels

  • Oversee budget and resource allocation

  • Maintain compliance with CQC standards

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and team development

  • Act as a role model and uphold professional standards

Primary Skills:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid NMC registration

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with a strong surgical background

  • At least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role

  • Strong clinical and decision-making skills

  • Proven ability to manage teams and healthcare environments

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience managing rosters and staffing

  • Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance

  • Experience managing budgets and resources

  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and adaptability

  • Enthusiasm for innovation in care delivery

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification

  • Active NMC registration

  • Leadership training or qualifications (preferred but not required)
