Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to work with children, young people, and their carers in mental health or complex care settings. The role involves multidisciplinary collaboration, inter-agency liaison, patient provision, and the application of clinical and therapeutic expertise in assessment, risk management, and evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality mental health care to children, young people, and their carers.

  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and across agencies.

  • Conduct assessments, manage risks, and implement evidence-based practices.

  • Liaise across different levels of CAMHS and with external agencies.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (e.g., NHS plan, Mental Health Legislation, Children Act, Education Act, Working Together, Children’s NSF, Every Child Matters).

  • Participate in research, audit, and service evaluation activities.

  • Foster collaborative working relationships across disciplines and organisations.

Primary Skills:

  • Substantial post-qualification experience in mental health or complex care settings.

  • Strong clinical and therapeutic knowledge relating to mental health and behavioural problems.

  • Understanding of research methodology and audit processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with service users and professionals from various disciplines.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience in community settings.

  • Previous experience in a CAMHS environment.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., nursing, psychologist, psychotherapist, family therapist, or other mental health profession).

  • Post-qualification professional development.

  • Ongoing professional supervision and/or experience in mentoring or supporting learners.

  • Membership of relevant professional bodies.

Desirable:

  • Post-registration qualification (e.g., degree).

  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health (e.g., CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling).
