Job Overview/Summary:
The Endoscopy Technician is responsible to the Supervising Nurse on a daily basis. The technician provides safe and effective care through the performance of specific duties as the endoscopy technologist during invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. Duties are performed according to hospital-established policies and Endoscopy procedures. Responsibilities also include assisting in maintaining a safe environment, staying updated with techniques, instruments, supplies, and assisting in the on-going Performance Improvement Program. After-hour departmental coverage (call shifts) is also required.
Responsibilities:

Provide technical support during endoscopy procedures under RN supervision.

Maintain a safe and clean environment in the procedure area.

Ensure proper maintenance and handling of equipment and supplies.

Participate actively in quality improvement activities.

Be available for after-hour call shifts as assigned.
Primary Skills:
-
Basic knowledge of endoscopic procedures and equipment.

Ability to assist physicians and nurses effectively during procedures.

Strong organizational and communication skills.
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

Familiarity with surgical technology practices.

Previous experience in a surgical or hospital environment.

Knowledge of infection control and sterilization techniques.
Qualifications:

Less than 1 year of surgical technology/assisting experience required.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

High School Diploma or GED required.
