Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Endoscopy Staff Nurse responsible for the delivery and evaluation of patient care within endoscopy services. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a strong mentor, and passionate about maintaining high clinical standards while working in a dynamic and innovative team setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care and maintain clinical standards under direction.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and update individualized care programs.

  • Perform all relevant nursing procedures independently and supervise junior staff.

  • Act as associate/named nurse and maintain high standards of patient care.

  • Mentor and assess students and Health Care Support Workers.

  • Participate in ward/unit-level research and continuous professional development.

  • Practice as per “Endoscopy Nurse Skill Set (Band 5)” guidelines.

  • Support and supervise endoscopy, respiratory (e.g., bronchoscopy, EBUS), and urology procedures (e.g., cystoscopy).

  • Administer medications including controlled drugs, and manage medical stock.

  • Support ward and theatre staff during endoscopic procedures.

  • Organize nursing care plans including patient admission/discharge.

  • Participate in on-call rota post competency assessment.

  • Ensure patient property care and equipment maintenance.

Primary Skills:

  • Proven competence in endoscopy-related nursing procedures.

  • Strong assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Proficiency in using and maintaining specialized endoscopy/video equipment.

  • Ability to coordinate care across departments (e.g., respiratory, urology, theatre).

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Knowledge of District Transfer Policy.

  • Understanding of controlled drug protocols.

  • Familiarity with clinical audit and research processes.

  • Experience supervising junior staff or students.

Qualifications:

  • Nursing Degree

  • Registered with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council)

  • Post-registration qualification in Endoscopy (preferred)

  • Experience in acute medical/surgical settings

  • Experience working in Endoscopy settings
