Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Dietetic Associate Practitioner to support the delivery of high-quality nutritional care for young people across the General Adolescent Unit and Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. The role involves working closely with a Specialist Dietitian, supporting staff, service users, and families to ensure effective dietetic care and promoting nutritional well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dietetic support to staff and service users across designated units.

  • Deliver a range of dietetic interventions for young people with complex health needs, both individually and in groups, under the supervision of a Specialist Dietitian.

  • Support nursing, catering, and multidisciplinary staff in implementing dietetic care plans.

  • Take part in audits and research activities.

  • Contribute to the education of the multidisciplinary team on nutrition-related topics.

  • Assist in training and supporting dietetic students.

  • Maintain accurate records and manage tasks and time effectively.

  • Participate in clinical supervision with the registered dietitian.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities offered by the trustwide dietetic team.

Primary Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with young people, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

  • Ability to implement and support dietetic care plans.

  • Effective organizational and time-management skills.

  • Competence in record-keeping and audit participation.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Experience supporting dietetic or healthcare services in mental health settings.

  • Knowledge of catering practices within healthcare environments.

  • Familiarity with research processes in clinical practice.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant healthcare or dietetic support qualification (or equivalent experience).

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or multidisciplinary team environment is desirable.
