Job Title: Clinical Assistant

Job Overview/Summary:

The Clinical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to Providers to collaboratively ensure the delivery of high-quality and compassionate care to patients. This position plays a critical role in patient engagement, clinical preparation, documentation, and procedural assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and room patients

  • Obtain and document past medical/surgical histories, chief complaint, HPI, and vital signs

  • Reconcile and document medications and allergies in the EHR

  • Assist the Provider with exams, treatments, and procedures

  • Prepare/administer medications per Provider direction

  • Collect/prepare lab specimens

  • Act as scribe when needed

  • Provide patient education and treatment instructions

  • Respond to patient questions and refill requests (phone/EHR)

  • Manage Provider schedules and book appointments/procedures

  • Schedule surgeries

  • Maintain EHR workqueues

  • Index labs, notes, and external documentation into EHR

  • Perform room turnover and sterilization

  • Train and onboard new staff

  • Adhere to OSHA standards and maintain safe environment

  • Maintain clinical and office supplies

  • Fulfill physical and mental demands of the role

  • Ensure on-site presence and reliable attendance

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Primary Skills:

  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems

  • Clinical and administrative healthcare knowledge

  • Patient interaction and communication

  • Medication preparation and administration

  • Multitasking in a clinical environment

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Scribing experience

  • Prior surgical scheduling experience

  • Experience with OSHA compliance and clinic protocols

  • Document indexing and medical records management

Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain high accuracy in assessments and decisions under stress

  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergencies

  • Strong adaptability to departmental changes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
